Mankinds longing for simplicity in life and subsequent attempt to construct order and meaning is what Andreas Emenius is exploring as an artist.

He's interested in the idea that a person can drift into a vibrating fictious condition, caused by for example loneliness, angst, or trauma, where it is hard to differentiate betwen reality and fantasy.

Andreas Emenius' unclear, but densly organised images, objects, and physical installations have three reoccuring references in common: Forces of nature representing something immediate, but also desperate and forced, the need of a waterfall, of gravity, of weather, or of a volcano eruption to steadily continue. Secondly, the hallucinating, staged condition that is Hollywood, attracts Emenius as the historic 'mothership' of visual languages that indirectly describes the absurdity of our societies, and also todays collaps of visual hierarchies. Last comes science, representing something that is ideal and unobtainable, not a utopia as such, but rather the notion of something being solid, unattached and absolute.

Thus Emenius also consciously uses form, colour and composition in his woks to create an illusion of rationality. This impression of logic gives time to explore the motive, but like a broken geometry there always exist an under-laying motion, complexity and irrationaity in the works.

A graduate from the Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design in 1999, Andreas Emenius today lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. He was born in 1973 in Stockholm, Sweden.

Vibskov & Emenius is the collaborative art project of Henrik Vibskov and Andreas Emenius. In 2007, they began working on 'The Fringe Projects' - ten works exploring illusion, surface, and movement - all compiled in the book 'The Fringe Projects 1-10' (144p Japsam Publishers, 2009).

In 2010 Vibskov & Emenius have begun work on their next collaboration: 'The Circular Series., Section 1 – 10'.
