| info I am interested in the human condition where people could be described to be in a state of acute awareness, due to heightened senses. For example when someone is in an accident, or has an instinctive realization of ones existence, or a deja vu, or the sudden feeling of missing someone. With a point of departure in my own surroundings I paint portrait of people as I experience them, by focusing on a moment or situation and then try to recapture the sensation in an image. I try to visualize the pulsating energies given out by people and objects, to paint their gravity and movements, to paint the intangible and the temporary. Byharnessing the dominant sensation in this whirlwind, I believe the images will speak universally and not be bound to a specific experience. Formal movements from the images are somtimes transferred into objects and large-scale installations, as a way of pulling the figures back into real life. A graduate from the Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design in 1999, Andreas Emenius today lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. He was born in 1973 in Stockholm, Sweden. Andreas Emenius also is one half of Vibskov & Emenius, the artistic collaboration together with danish designer Henrik Vibsko. In 2007, they began working on 'The Fringe Projects' - ten works exploring illusion, surface, and movement - all compiled in the book 'The Fringe Projects 1-10' (144p Japsam Publishers, 2009). In 2010 Vibskov & Emenius have begun work on their next collaboration: 'The Circular Series., Section 1 – 10'. More info at: www.vibskovemenius.com |
